The Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) program is a certification program administered by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) that assesses the educational and clinical readiness of graduates from non-accredited veterinary schools for licensure or employment in the United States.
The primary goal of the ECFVG is to evaluate the professional competence of graduates from non-AVMA accredited veterinary schools.
The ECFVG certification is widely accepted by state veterinary licensing boards and the U.S. federal government as fulfilling the educational requirements for licensure or certain types of employment.
The ECFVG program involves a multi-step process:
The ECFVG ensures that foreign-trained veterinarians have met the necessary educational benchmarks to practice in the U.S., bridging the gap between their education and the standards of AVMA-accredited programs.
